Ok, this site is really work-in-progress, as you might have noticed already. I'm currently in the process of adding new/existing features to this site and I will keep blogging about those experiences. What do we have so far:
* We have our site online. Our corporate site is hosted on a 512 RAM VPS running Windows 2003 64-bit Datacenter Edition, equipped with Plesk control panel to easy the creation of new domains. Plesk is really doing a great job in doing all the plumbing that is required to get a website online. Things that were not installed by default and which I had to install manually: .NET Framework 2.0, .NET Framework 2.0 SP 1, Ajax extensions 1.0 for ASP.NET 2.0 (in that specific order).
[If you need more info about how to configure Win2003/Plesk/Umbraco, make a comment and I will try to get in touch. (Ouch, need to get Doc2Form working first, for now, you may contact me at dirk [at] netaddicts [dot] be)]
Update: Doc2Form is working now!!! Use the form if you wish to make some comments. Btw, quick free tip: Macro property TabName should be all lowercase, otherwise Doc2Form won't find any properties on the tab when creating the form.
* We have created the necessary document types/templates/macros/xslt to get the site at this point. That includes the Blog package from the online package repository and Per's excellent umbraco tagging package.
What's in it for the future. Well, you might find some hints on the right side:
* A home made blog calendar to make it easy to keep track of the differents post by its publication date. I know, there are some examples I might find here and there, but I prefer to create my own to get myself familiar with the umbraco API, and to get used to creating user controls and integrating those in my site.
* Rss feed: I've found some examples and code here and I will get them on my site as well.
* A collection of links, which I might extract from xml using some xslt macro, or I could hard code them in the template.
* Last but not least, you will be able to track my Twitter status, using Warren's Twitter Umbraco Package version 1.2.
Stay tuned!
